VIBRATIONS Miguel Soll, Belgium, Brazil, 2022, 13min in French and Portuguese with English subtitles In the beginning there was the image. Through memories of a repressed sexuality, between the past and the present, oneself is discovered through pornography. Miguel Soll is a versatile Brazilian image maker. With a background in communication and film studies, he explores a range of mediums to evoke chaotic yet dreamy atmospheres, moving fluidly between photography, design and pornography. Since 2018, he has been a member of Rubis Collective, where, under the name Diamonds Bitch, he co-directs and signs the cinematography for narrative-driven porn. http://instagram.com/miguel.soll IRRESISTIBLE Barbora Kleinhamplová & Miss Velvet, Mexico, Czech Republic, 2021, 20min in English with French subtitles Irresistible opens up a space to reflect BDSM as a subversive sphere through which wider social change could take place thanks to individual initiatives. Mistress Velvet was a queer dominatrix from Chicago (originally from Ghana) but also a graduate of Gender Studies with focus on the African diaspora. Work in the sex industry became a part of their academic life. Clients who came to Velvet questioned their identities and worked with them to address patriarchal oppression and reparations through black feminist literature. The film is a visual-poetical manifesto which centers on the protagonist as a potential agent of a future revolution. The film also unintentionally became a farewell to Mistress Velvet who unfortunately passed away in March of 2021. Barbora Kleinhamplová (1984) is an artist living and working in Prague, Czech Republic. Through associations and metaphors, her work explores the relationship between human existence and contemporary political systems, including the norms and rules that shape them. Kleinhamplová has exhibited widely in the Czech Republic and internationally, including at the Gwangju Biennale, the New Museum (New York), Astrup Fearnley Museet (Oslo), and the Jakarta Biennale. For the film Irresistible, she had the honor of collaborating artistically with Mistress Velvet, a feminist, communist, and an iconic figure within the BDSM scene. IN ALL THE ROOMS WE MET Bonaventure Tain, 2024, 13min in English with French subtitles Over the years, a documentary filmmaker and a porn actor met in various rooms, left, and reunited, and now ended up in a room filled with lush greenery. They had a tête-à-tête and vividly recalled their deeply buried childhood sexual fantasies and stories of youthful desires, and the chapters of eroticism intertwined with both reality and fantasy that they have woven together. Driven by a passion for uncovering raw human emotions, Bonaventure Tain’s films delve into the intricacies of desire, memory, and identity. His 2023 documentary ‘The Boys Who Sit Down to Pee’ was screened at film festivals worldwide. In All The Rooms We Met’ is his latest erotic-themed documentary work produced in 2024. http://instagram.com/bonaventure_deofficial http://instagram.com/b.for.beau.production

KOKOMO CITY D. Smith, US, 2023, 73min in English with French subtitles In the wildly entertaining and refreshingly unfiltered documentary KOKOMO CITY, filmmaker D. Smith passes the mic to four Black transgender sex workers in Atlanta and New York City – Daniella Carter, Koko Da Doll, Liyah Mitchell, and Dominique Silver – who unapologetically break down the walls of their profession. Holding nothing back, the film vibrates with energy, sex, challenge, and hard-earned wisdom. This vital portrait, edited and shot by Smith in bold black and white, is her feature directorial debut. about D. SMITH (director, editor, cinematographer, producer) is a two-time Grammy nominated producer, singer, and songwriter and is now making her film debut as a director of the documentary Kokomo City. Smith’s father was a world-renowned drummer, and she wrote her first song at 10 years-old for the choir at church in Miami, Florida. After coming out to her father as a teen, Smith was kicked out her house and was taken in by a church member. After graduating High School, Smith used the last of her money on a one way bus ticket to New York City. She then began singing in the subway where she was first discovered, and went on to produce “Shoot Me Down” for Lil Wayne’s Carter III album which went 8 times platinum. Cee-lo Green, Katy Perry, Andre 3000, Timbaland, and Marc Ronson are some of the long list of music industry heavyweights Smith worked with. Until 2014, when Smith decided to transition into the woman she always knew she was. She was unaware that living in her truth meant that she would have to sacrifice the thing she loved the most, which was making music for a living. People stopped calling. And eventually after running out of money and options, she knew she had to move on from the life she once knew. The silver lining came with the creation of Kokomo City. She devoted almost 3 years to it while crashing on different friends’ couches, all the while diving into the lives of four trans women who had a story to tell. Smith was over the moon to receive the call that “Kokomo City” was to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2023, where the film won both the NEXT Innovator and Audience Awards. A few weeks later it also won the Berlinale’s Audience Award in the Panorama Documentary section. https://www.instagram.com/truedsmith
