    Depot, so named to reflect Tan’s ongoing interest in public and private collections of objects, is a film installation incorporating footage filmed in the depots of natural history museums in Leiden and Berlin. The amassing of specimens in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries is the basis for most natural history museums. However, ‘natural history’ remains a curious term, an oxymoron. This term encapsulates the troubled complexities of mankind’s relationship to the natural world. Ironically, when it comes to collecting for these institutions, one must first kill and render lifeless that which one wishes to preserve. This recent commission builds upon several of Tan’s recent works that expose collections and archives, calling into question the ways in which they are used to represent and interpret history and mankind’s place in the world. 22’40’’ in English with French subtitles in loop BIO Fiona Tan is a visual artist and filmmaker who lives and works in Amsterdam. She is best known for her skillfully crafted video and film installations, in which explorations of memory, time, history and the role of visual images are key. Her installations and photographic works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in international venues.     PAM (Platform for Audiovisual and Media Arts) has grown out of a diverse assembly of organizations and practitioners working with moving image, sound art, or media art. PAM invites anyone who works in media arts to meet, to discuss common issues and to share knowledge and tools about the development, production, distribution, presentation, and reflection of audiovisual and media arts. After over a year of activities, the next PAM gathering proposes to reflect on the field of artists, artworkers, communities and organisations, how to navigate it, which interrelations and positions define audiovisual and media arts, and how PAM can act as a supporting structure within this network.     Chantal Birman, sage-femme libérale et féministe, a consacré sa vie à défendre le droit des femmes. À presque 70 ans, elle continue de se rendre auprès de celles qui viennent d’accoucher pour leur prodiguer soins et conseils. Entre instants douloureux et joies intenses, ses visites offrent une photographie rare de ce moment délicat qu’est le retour à la maison. À la vie est un puissant film féministe qui traite de l’importance du métier de sage-femme à travers le portrait de Chantal Birman, largement reconnue au sein de la profession. Il met également en lumière de manière sensible un sujet trop peu abordé, celui du post-partum.
